Frequently asked questions.

FAQs

  • Lacrosse is rapidly growing in Southwest Missouri, and we're proud to be the region's pioneering ladies' team. While our sport has gained traction over the years, we still travel to compete with teams beyond our area. Our league is based in Northeast Oklahoma, with most of our games held in Tulsa. We do host home games each season, but we make the most of our travel by playing 2-4 games in a day when we're on the road.

  • While we're not affiliated with any specific school district, our team proudly includes players from Springfield, Nixa, and Republic. For the past 10 years, we've been partnered with the Republic Rec Center and plan to continue that strong collaboration.

  • Although lacrosse is often seen as an Ivy League sport, it’s actually quite affordable and accessible. While top-tier equipment can be expensive, quality beginner gear is available for under $150. We strive to make lacrosse accessible to everyone by keeping our season fees as low as possible, typically only a few hundred dollars per player.

  • Only basic equipment is required, and we’re here to help you and your player make the best choices. Essential gear includes a lacrosse stick, eye protection goggles, cleats, and a mouthguard for gameplay. We also recommend a gear bag and a good-sized water bottle. While it's not guaranteed, we often have loaner equipment available if needed.

  • Yes, ladies' lacrosse is a contact sport, but it’s different from boys' lacrosse. The contact in women’s lacrosse is more comparable to what you’d find in basketball. The focus is on skill and precision in ball control rather than brute force.

  • To participate in gameplay, a US Lacrosse membership is required. Not only is it mandatory, but it also offers significant benefits for both players and parents, including insurance coverage and more.

  • We have two lacrosse seasons: one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall season focuses on skills development, and we typically aim to participate in a tournament or a few games. The spring season is our main competitive period, where we play 10-14 games, running from mid-January to late April.
